Shaikh Isa bin Ali Liwan (Arabic ليوان)

A “liwan” in a traditional house in Bahrain is a terrace which usually faces the main open area (similar to a big porch). It offers shade and is usually used during the mild periods of the day (early morning or late afternoon) for chatting and drinking tea.

This is the liwan from Shaikh Isa bin Ali house in Muharraq, which was built around the end of the 19th century.

HDR done using qtpfsgui 1.9.4beta and GIMP.
